Description
We produce three types of coolers, spiral, plate and tubular.
Spiral cooler is the basic design of a copper spiral in a galvanized vessel. We also manufacture the vessels in stainless steel and the spiral can be 6 to 9 metres long. The advantage of this type is that, due to the large amount of cooling water in the vessel, it does not require a constant flow of water, the cold water is manually dispensed as required (distillate temperature). The downside is the difficult cleaning of the inner surface of the spiral, which must be done at least once a year and can only be done chemically. The optimum cooling water temperature for this type is up to 20°C.
Plate cooler is made of stainless steel. Its main advantages are simple design and easier cleaning of the surfaces, compared to the spiral cooler, it has a smaller volume and consumption of cooling water and a longer service life, but requires a constant flow of cooling water. The optimum cooling water temperature for this type is below 15°C.
Tube cooler combines the advantages of both types. The stainless steel construction is removable and allows for easier cleaning, while containing a larger volume of cooling water and a larger surface area of cooling surfaces. This type also requires a constant flow of cooling water and a temperature of below 18°C.
The cooling water flow rate of plate and tube coolers can also be controlled automatically with a Danfoss thermovalve. For easy, continuous measurement of the alcohol content of the distillate, a copper or stainless steel parrot can be mounted on the cooler.
